This weeks nails: Barry M Countess

I change my nails every week, so thought I’d start a weekly post to show you my varnish of the week.

Barry M Glitter Polish in Countess £3.99

This is a lovely, textured, glitter varnish in dark purple with flecks of gold and pink. Great for Autumn and the festive season. The below image shows with and without flash.

Application of this is really easy and it dries so quickly. I think it may be pretty difficult to remove, but the bonus of this is hopefully it won’t chip all week!

This Weeks Loves: Week 4

Hello again! Here are the products I’ve been loving this week:

Rimmel Stay Blushed in Pop of Pink £4.49
This is lovely cream blush, and I find Pop of Pink perfect for my fair skin. Colour pay-off is good – a little goes a long way – and you can build up the colour if desired. I have been patting this in with fingers to the apples of my cheeks on top of my foundation, then lightly powdering over everything with a translucent power. Like most blushers, the staying power on this isn’t amazing, you’ll probably need to top up mid-afternoon. However, lately I have been applying Stay Blushed, powdering, then adding a light dusting of powder blush over the top, and have found this really helps to keep my cheeks rosy all day.

Seventeen Off the Wall Nail Graffiti £3.99
Oh my, I have been a little obsessed with this, this week. The graffiti polish is instant nail art, no fiddly bits – which I love. For this look, I applied two coats of white nail polish (Barry M), then 1 coat of the graffiti over the top, adding another layer in places I thought needed it, then finished with a top coat. The graffiti polish can be applied over any colour you choose, but I love how this look combines the white nail trend and the nail art trend all in one.

Blistex Daily Lip Conditioner £2.59
A bit of a boring one, but I adore this lip balm. I get extremely dry lips, and this is the only balm I have found (including expensive ones) that soothes and smooths. The best thing for me is how this sinks into my lips rather than just sits on top. And it doesn’t make my lips feel even drier between applications, as some others do. I always apply this before bed, so I wake up with moisturised lips, then throughout the day whenever I feel I need it. It’s also great for prepping lips before lipstick – I apply a liberal amount, let it sink in for 5 – 10 minutes, then wipe it off with a cotton pad. This removes any flaky bits so your lips are lipstick ready.

Collection Little Mix Jesy’s Volumising Mascara £2.99
On a recent visit to Superdrug I thought I would tear myself away from my Max Factor mascara addiction and try one of the new Collection Little Mix mascara’s. I had a good look at all the bushes and settled on Jesy’s Volumising Mascara. What I like about this is that the brush is nice and big and it doesn’t pick up too much product, leaving you with just the right amount to create separated, fluttery eyelashes. This isn’t a high impact mascara, the results after a couple of coats are quite subtle, but I think it’s lovely for day time. There was a little bit of flaking throughout the day, but no where near as much as some I’ve tried. I think this is a bargain for £2.99!

This Weeks Loves: Week 3

Hello! I hope you enjoy this weeks post. Here are my favourite products of the week:

It’s almost winter in London and my dry skin needs a bit of perking up. So I was very excited to see Seventeens new Skin Wow Highlighter arrive in boots. It can be used 3 ways; as a primer, a highlighter or mixed in with your foundation. I have been adding a couple of drops to my foundation to give my skin a bit of a glow. It’s a lovely product, glowy not glittery, I love it!

Another Seventeen product (they have some great products right now) I have been loving is the Brow Pencil. I usually use powder in my brows – I like GOSHs brow palette – but this is a great pencil; not red at all, goes on easily, stays all day and has a handy little brush on the end. I apply a clear mascara (by Collection) over the top to keep my brows in place.

20131005-145647.jpg Next up is my favourite concealer Bourjois Healthy Mix Correcting Concealer. I use the Healthy Mix foundation so find this a great match. I have had a major spot break out this week, and have been using this little gem everyday to cover up. It’s buildable and stays put pretty well if you apply a powder to set.

20131005-150156.jpg Which leads by nicely on to powder. I have to admit my favourite powder is Mac Mineralise Skinfinish, but I’ve had the Natural Collection Pressed Powder for a little while and thought I’d try it out. It’s actually really good. The powder is very fine, and really sets foundation in place. It’s can be a little cakey, so go easy with the application. But for the price, this is a really nice powder.

20131005-150522.jpg Last up is another Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait I have said it before but I love these lip butters, they’re perfect for dry winter lips and there are so many great colours to choose from. Peach Parfait is a lovely pinky-peach with a little bit of shimmer, perfect for day time.

Until next week!

This Weeks Loves: Week 2

Here are a few of the products I’ve been loving this week:

20130921-172715.jpg As the weather starts to get colder, my dry skin definitely needs a bit of extra help on the moisturising front. I love a serum under my moisturiser usually during winter, but I picked up this Superdrug Vitamin E Skin Oil recently and really like it. Unlike a lot of oils I’ve tried, it soaks into my skin and doesn’t feel greasy. I pop normal moisturiser on top if I feel I need it.

I’m so pale that fake tan is a must for me and my favourite at the moment is Palmers Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze. I plan on doing a full blog on this as I think it’s amazing. It’s moisturising, dries quickly and gives a lovely, natural colour. Plus, it doesn’t stink – it smells of cocoa butter, which I like!

Next up is an eyeliner I’ve liked for ages; Revlon Colorstay in Black. Usually for work I’ll run a little bit along the top of my eye to define. I find the staying power of this really good for a kohl pencil and they’re so easy to use.

Another product I use regularly for work is Seventeen Blusher in China Pink. I love Seventeen blushers, I find the staying power of these brilliant and they have a lovely colour selection. China Pink is a beautiful natural flush, perfect for everyday.

Lastly, another Seventeen product. I tweeted the about this earlier in the week; Seventeen Lip Crayon in Knockout. I really like Seventeens Lip Crayons, they’re so easy to apply and not quite as glossy as other lip crayons out there. Knockout is a pretty plum-red, a lovely autumn colour I think.

Until next week!

This Weeks Loves: Week 1

Welcome to my first week of favourites! Each week I will post about the products I have loved and used most during the week. And here are this weeks:

First up is the nail varnish. I have loved this Barry M Blue Moon colour all summer and I’m still wearing it now, even after a very autumnal week in London. I know darker polishes will soon be taking over my nail wardrobe; but this is definitely still a favourite. I get so many compliments when I wear it, I even had one from a guy this week! It’s a beautiful pale blue with a hint of grey. I just love it; it’s so chic. Quick note on this, I apply 3 coats to get a more intense colour

Next is Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee. I tweeted about this product earlier in the week. I love Revlons Lip Butters, they are so lovely and moisturising and they have great colours. Creme Brulee is a perfect nude for me and brilliant as an easy, everyday lip.

Another easy, everyday product for me is Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in On-and-On Bronze. I think everyone knows how great the colour tattoos are. They are so quick and easy to apply with fingers, and last all day. On-and-on Bronze looks beautiful on all eye colours. It can be worn sheer or built up for a stronger look. I like just a wash of colour for a pretty, work-appropriate look.

Now, I’m not a massive fan of water proof mascara (I hate the removal) but I have been using Max Factor 2000 Calorie Waterproof this week. Although, I have a secret; I only use it on my bottom lashes! It stays put all day and the small brush is perfect for bottom lash application. So, for me, its normal 2000 Calorie on the top, waterproof on the bottom!

Lastly, I have re-discovered an old favourite. Usually, I use the Bourjois Chocolate Bronzing Powder, but I pulled out my Rimmel Sun Shimmer Bronzer in Medium Matt this week and have been loving it. A light dusting on my forehead, nose, chin and cheeks and I look healthy once again!

That’s all for this week!

My results with Revitalash

Revitalash £61.20

I first discovered Revitalash last year whilst watching QVC Beauty (one of my guilty pleasures)! Of course, the presenters were raving about the results they had achieved; and they were right to – their eyelashes were amazing. My own eyelashes have always been quite short and sparse, so I had to give it a go. Of course I was skeptical, but I was desperate to see if I could improve my lashes without falsies, and forked out the hefty £61. When I received the product I was disappointed. It seems like a very small tube for the price – although I have to say it lasts ages. The tube is a little like clear liquid eyeliner once opened and is applied in a similar way, by running the brush along the top of your lashes. All eye makeup should be removed before applying the product, so I tended to put it on in the evening after removing my make-up and before putting on any serums or creams. And I did this religiously – one application every day as instructed. You are supposed to do this every day for 3 months, then 2 or 3 times a week after that, which I did.

I’d say I started to notice a difference after around 2 weeks. I thought I was imagining it at first, but I just seemed to have more lashes. After a month, my lashes were definitely thicker and longer, then after the second month I started to get comments. I hadn’t told anyone I was using Revitalash, as I wanted to see if anyone did notice a difference (other than myself). And this was the brilliant thing – I got so many comments and so many people asking me was I wearing false lashes, or had I had eyelash extensions. I can honestly say the results I got were amazing – have a look at the pics below for the evidence! This is with 2 coats of mascara. I even started to put some on the sparse parts of my eyebrows, which seemed to work too (although they do make an eyebrow specific product).

Now, the tube lasted me around 5 or 6 months and I did repurchase, but when my second tube ran out in May, I decided to see what happened when I stopped using the product. And, as I expected, my lashes went back to normal. I haven’t bought another tube yet as, firstly, because it’s expensive and, secondly, I want to try out Castor Oil! I have heard Castor Oil is a great, inexpensive and natural alternative to the lash and brow growth products out there at the minute, so I have bought a bottle and plan to give it a whirl. I will report back with my findings!
